Tobago police investigate man’s body found in grave

Police are trying to identify the body of a man found in an eight-foot grave on Tuesday evening.

Police said they went to Old Milford Road, Lowlands where the body of a man was dug up from a grave, approximately eight feet deep to the back of an incomplete concrete structure.

Sources said the body was cast in concrete and was clad in dark-coloured underwear and a multi-coloured striped t-shirt.

A district medical officer visited the scene, viewed the body and ordered its removal to the Scarborough General Hospital mortuary where an autopsy is expected to be carried out.

Asked on Wednesday about the state of decomposition of the body, ACP Vernon Roberts declined to reveal details.

"The investigation is at a sensitive stage," he said.
