Police suspect the shooting death of a Long Circular teenager may have been accidental, as investigators continue enquiries into the shooting.

Police said Brianna Parks, 16, was at an abandoned house on Aboud Trace, Long Circular Road, St James, at around 5 pm on Monday when she was shot and killed.

Investigators said they suspect someone else in the house was playing with a gun when they accidentally fired it, hitting Parks in the stomach.

Police said no one has been arrested in relation to the killing, but they are still investigating it as a murder until other evidence becomes available.

Newsday went to the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Tuesday to speak to Parks' relatives, who declined to comment.

One relative could only confirm Parks' age and the school she attended.
