Injured La Romaine chef dies

Marlene Nelson, the chef who got injuries after an explosion at her workplace, died at the San Fernando General Hospital (SFGH) on Saturday night.

The 51-year-old chef was burned and lost consciousness on June 2 in the kitchen of Zaza Steakhouse and Grill at the Southern Main Road in La Romaine. No one else was injured.

Since then she had been hospitalised.

Nelson was a single mother of three.

Officers of the Mon Repos Fire Station and Southern Division police are investigating.
