Hockey board hosts coaching education series

The Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board (TTHB) is hosting an online coaching education series twice per week until June 23. The sessions, which began June 9, are being held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm - 8pm.

This course is being held on the heels of the hockey board's online training event titled Managing National Teams, held last month. This formal training course was open to people from the different national sporting organisations who showed interest in managing sporting teams at the national and club level.

Forty-nine participants have registered and are participating in the online coaching education series, which has received sanction from the Pan American Hockey Federation. The course includes participants from TT, Barbados and Jamaica.

This coaching education series focuses on the philosophy and science behind the sport, introducing new and experienced coaches to aspects of the sport that are not actively delved into at the club level in most Caribbean countries, but the areas critical for clubs in understanding physical literacy, developing athletes from the primary school level and recognising the nexus between the building blocks required in formulating the elite athlete and sustained club/national success.

The sessions are being delivered by local coaches Dwain Quan Chan, Patricia Wright-Alexis, Natalie Nieves, Glenn Francis and Anthony Marcano.
