Woman, 18, charged with murder

AN 18-year-old woman is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate on Monday charged with murder.

Avelon Sasha Lett, also called Avi, of St Charles Lane, Second Caledonia, Morvant, was charged for murder by WPC Clinton of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One, on Thursday, a police release said.

She was charged based on certain instructions from DPP Roger Gaspard, SC. Homicide officers, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent Chandool, Superintendent Martin and Insp Ramdass, investigated the death of Shem Thomas which occurred on Saturday June 13, at St Joseph Lane, off Pashley Street in Laventille.

Assisting in the investigations were officers of the Research Analytical Unit (RAU), Special Investigations Unit (SIU), and Special Operations Response Team (SORT).
