'Stoneman' killed in police shootout

ONE man was killed in a shootout with police on Thursday night. Newsday was told police went to the home of Andrews Reno known as “Stoneman” at Percy Street in La Canoa, Santa Cruz to execute a search warrant.

Reno shot at the officers when they arrived at the house around 8.30 pm and when police returned fire, Reno was hit several times. He was known to police for a number of offences.

Police seized $40,000 and a large quantity of marijuana. A close female relative of Reno was found inside the house and she was arrested. Reno was pronounced dead on the scene.
