Laventille man stabbed to death after domestic dispute

A 22-year-old Laventille man was found dead at his apartment following an argument with a woman on Saturday afternoon.

According to police reports, around 1 pm Shem Thomas and the suspect were seen arguing near a grocery at Pashley Street, Laventille.

Eyewitnesses told police the duo left and residents heard them arguing at their apartment located close by.

After some time, residents told police they no longer heard Thomas and saw the woman leaving the apartment.

Police said residents saw the woman return to the apartment for a short while and left again, this time with a cell phone in her hand. Police believed Thomas was stabbed to death.

Thomas is the second man killed within 24 hours, both incidents are believed to be linked to domestic disputes.

On Friday night, 44-year-old Darren Perreira was shot dead outside his Pinewood Drive, Carapo. Police said Perreira and a woman were heard arguing hours before the incident. Around 10.45 pm gunshots were heard at Perriera's house. When residents visited the scene they found Perreira dead on outside the house.
