CHAIRMAN of the Sport Company of TT (SporTT) Douglas Camacho said all the sporting facilities, under its purview, are being sanitised in preparation for the resumption of sports locally.

Sporting enthusiasts are anticipating the return of action in two weeks after the Prime Minister's covid19 update on Saturday.

“We expect that if our numbers continue on the same trajectory that we are on now, we should be able to be reopening our bars, gyms, casinos, cinemas and have in-house dining at restaurants and have sporting activities taking place,” said Dr Rowley.

"Sporting activities without the stadium crowds, but activities on the field by June 22. The announcement is expected on the 20th (June) for the restart on the 22nd.”

Camacho said, "We have put everything in place. We have sanitised all the places properly, we have all the sinks and everything in place. Once we know the schedule it will make sure we don't have 50 people turning up for a session."

Camacho said the international benchmark will be followed in TT by only allowing a limited number of people to train. Rowley, on Saturday, said gatherings can increase from five to ten on June 22 making it easier for sporting teams to train.

"Over the last couple weeks (we have been sanitising). I think the last one was finished back end of last week. We did a major operation in anticipation of opening back up. I think we finished the exercise by Thursday last week," Camacho said.

Some of the venues under the SporTT purview are Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Larry Gomes Stadium (Arima), Mannie Ramjohn Stadium (Marabella), Ato Boldon Stadium (Couva), National Aquatic Centre (Couva) and National Cycling Velodrome (Couva).
