Two policemen charged

Two police officers were each granted $100,000 bail after they were charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.

The officers were held by the Professional Standards Bureau on Tuesday for the offence which was allegedly committed on November 8 last year.

They appeared before magistrate Rajendra Rambachan via a virtual hearing on Tuesday at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court. They are Sgt Rajesh Gokool who was last assigned to the Central Division and has 25 years’ service, and Sgt Ken Ali who was last assigned to the Northern Division with 19 years’ service.

The matter has been postponed to the July 6.
