A joint army-police patrol found a stolen car and Playstation game console hours after it was reported stolen from an Arouca man early on Monday morning.

Police said the team were on patrol along Span Crete Boulevard, Malabar, at around 3.15 am when the officers saw a brown Suzuki Gran Vitara drive nearby.

One of the officers recognised the driver as a suspect in several cases and attempted to intercept the car to question him.

The car drove off and police chased the car along the westbound lane of the Churchill-Roosevelt Highway in Trincity where two men ran out of the car leaving it in a grassy verge near Trincity Mall.

Both men escaped.

A few minutes later the owner of the car called the police station reporting it stolen and was told by officers that it was found in Trincity.

The man also reported that his Playstation gaming console was also stolen from his home earlier that morning.
