Cascade man charged with 2016 child murder

A 25-year-old Cascade man is the person most recently charged for the 2016 murder of six-year-old Parris Griffith and the attempted murder of her mother Akeila Schelborn, a police media release said on Monday.

Kashaun Boyce, of Hololo Mountain Road, Cascade, was charged on Sunday for the crime.

Boyce and with three others allegedly set fire to Schelborn's home at Straker Village, Laventille, on August 20, 2016.

Schelborn was burnt and her daughter died in the fire.

Boyce was arrested on Friday.

The investigations were led by ACP Odette Lewis, Snr Supt Chandool, Supt Corbette, Insp Alleyne and Cpl Narine with assistance from PCs Huggins, Sealey, Rodriguez and Foster of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations’ Cold Case Unit.
