Give us man we need in La Brea

THE EDITOR: Robert Le Hunte earned my trust and confidence when even I thought it wasn’t possible.

When Le Hunte was appointed as a minister, I remember asking myself who was this man and where did Dr Rowley find him. The man came all the way from Ghana to be a minister while I felt there were good candidates in the communities.

During his tenure in office he persuaded me that he is the man we needed, even when we didn’t know we needed him.

He showed us that he cares about improving the utilities and that he has what it takes to accomplish it. Not only did he do the unthinkable and speak openly about the areas in which we need to improve, he also started doing things that helped communities get better services.

I have lived with my aunt in La Brea for the last eight years and have witnessed the kind of passionate leader this man is. Those who were at the PNM family day in La Brea last year will know.

In my aunt’s words, it takes a big man to be willing to give up power because of his beliefs. I think Le Hunte is someone to look up to, and someone who I want to represent me, my aunt and my community.

We want a man who has run a leading Caribbean bank to bring his knowledge and experience to represent us. We want a man who grew up with us to represent us. A man who proudly tells us about his times growing up here, who can show my daughter how far she can reach in life.

The PNM brought this powerful leader to TT to handle the public utilities. Now we the people of La Brea want to put him to work for us.

Please, listen to our voices and give us the leader we need Select Robert Le Hunte for La Brea.
