The chances of Ebola reaching TT are close to zero according to Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh as he responded to questions over TT's preparedness in handling cases of infections.

At the Ministry of Health's covid19 briefing on Wednesday, Deyalsingh said he was confident the chances of Ebola reaching TT were relatively low, as borders were closed and the availability of an Ebola vaccine.

"There is now an approved vaccine for Ebola which was approved for the World Health Organisation and the Center for Disease Control last year.

"The other good thing about Ebola is, epidemiologically speaking, Ebola is much more deadly compared to the coronavirus. Part of the reason coronavirus does not kill in the numbers that SARS and Ebola kills is what makes the coronavirus so transmissible because you have these asymptomatic people crossing borders."

Deyalsingh said a retrospective study was being done on the coronavirus by the Ministry of Health to better understand the impacts and spread of the coronavirus.
