At the briefing, Dr Rowley announced that phase three of the reopening of the economy will begin on Monday. The reopening of the public service and retail businesses are included in this phase.

Saying he believed the family of three arrived from the United Kingdom, Deyalsingh said they were taken to the Home of Football step down facility in Couva “as per protocol under strict quarantine.”

The trio were swabbed and Deyalsingh said, “Of the three members of the family. two tests came back negative but one test came back positive. He added, “This is our first positive test since May 30.”

He said he wanted to announce the new case in this manner in keeping with the full transparency and accountability that Government has been providing the public regarding efforts to curb the spread of covid19 in TT.

Deyalsingh also explained that because the trio were brought directly from the airport to the Home of Football and not allowed to go home, there is “no need for contact tracing.” He reiterated that all returning TT nationals are placed in state quarantine. They are allowed to go home, after completing their quarantine period and testing negative for the virus.
