Clayton relieved of Queen's Park CEO post

FORMER CEO of Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) Allan Clayton said the time he spent with the organisation was “rewarding” after nearly two years served in the position.

“It is a private members club, a challenging environment but for the time that I was there it was very rewarding,” Clayton said.

Clayton held the position since August 2018.

A QPCC release sent to club members by honorary secretary Colin Murray said because of “declining revenues over the past six months” which had been aggravated by the covid19 pandemic, the club’s operations are being affected.

The release said a lot of other staff members have lost their jobs. “As you are no doubt aware, all of our major lines of revenue have been affected by the lockdown and as such we had to lay off the majority of our staff as the club was closed to all of our members.”

QPCC says the virus “will negatively impact sporting activities and future income streams” and had to restructure.

“As a consequence, we have had to unfortunately declare the position of CEO redundant and to retrench the CEO with immediate effect.”
