Man arrested trying to cash bogus cheque

A San Juan man is being interviewed by officers of the Fraud Squad after he attempted to cash a fraudulent cheque at a bank on Thursday afternoon.

Police said investigators received information that the man was going to cash a cheque valued at $50,000 at the Park Street branch of First Citizen's.

Police were called to the bank at around 2 pm and arrested the man.

Investigators suspect the man may have stolen a checkbook from a company two months ago and used it to write fraudulent cheques.
