2 charged for sex attacks on minors

TWO MEN have been charged for sexual offences against two minors, aged 13 and 15, following investigations by the Child Protection Unit (CPU).

A release from the police on Tuesday said that enquiries were headed by Ag Supt George, ASP Nowbutt, and supervised by Insp Andrews and Sgt Miller of the unit.

In one case, a 47-year-old man from Laventille appeared in court on May 22, charged with one count of sexual penetration of a minor. He was denied bail and remanded into custody until June 8.

In an unrelated case, a 39-year-old man in Tobago was charged with one count of sexual touching of a child. The accused will appear before a Scarborough magistrate on Tuesday.

CPU officers, the release stated, continue to urge parents and guardians to continue to be vigilant especially during this period where children are at home and more susceptible to predators. Parents and guardians can never be too careful about safety. Do not leave children unattended or in the care of questionable adults.
