PRIME Minister and Diego Martin West MP Dr Rowley was the sole nominee screened for his constituency by the People's National Movement (PNM) screening committee, reported PNM PRO Laurel Lezama-Lee Sing.

She told Newsday that Diego Martin North East MP and Finance Minister Colm Imbert and St Joseph MP and Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh were also the sole nominees for their constituencies during the screening process.

She said there will be two days for screening this week as there are still one or two outstanding constituencies for which the screening committee asked to widen the pool. She noted that Tobago has also started its own screening process.

Asked what was the end date for the screening process, Lezama-Lee Sing said there was no definitive date as yet but it is anticipated that the process should finish within the next two to three weeks.

She reported the screening committee will put forward a comprehensive list of the final prospective candidates towards the end of the process.

Among those in the running are media personality and new Senator Jason Williams as the prospective candidate for the Barataria/San Juan seat and former UNC minister Winston "Gypsy" Peters for Moruga/Tableland. Moruga/Tableland MP Dr Lovell Francis and La Horquetta/Talparo MP Maxie Cuffie have both announced they will not be contesting their respective seats.
