PNM picks attorney for Fyzabad seat

ATTORNEY Solange De Souza, who resigned from Trinidad Tourism Ltd after its CEO Camille Campbell was fired in questionable circumstances, has been given the green light to contest the Fyzabad seat on behalf of the PNM.

Following a public falling-out over the unprecedented dismissal, De Souza was tipped to become San Fernando's mayor, but that post was eventually given to Junia Regrello for a second time. De Souza is a senior attorney in the Attorney General's office.

UNC's Dr Lackram Bodoe is the incumbent MP for the constituency.

De Souza was screened on Thursday as one of four vying for the seat.

Also screened on Thursday was former UNC minister Winston “Gypsy” Peters.
