Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said the Cuban nurses who are in TT to help with the response to covid19 will be paid a dislocation allowance. He said this is normal procedure for any citizen who leaves their home to work in another country, whether as part of a government-to-government arrangement or private sector.

He said depending on the terms of the contracts, they may get free travel back and forth, and other allowances that mitigate against the inconvenience of leaving their home countries to go and work in another country, such as expenses involving rent and food, etc.

Deyalsingh specified that this arrangement will not disadvantage local nurses and is standard practice around the world.
