Canaan woman fined $11k for cocaine, smoking apparatus

A Canaan woman was fined $11,000 for possession of cocaine and a smoking apparatus.

According to a police press release, 53-year-old Theresa Roberts-Reid, also known as Kirby, whilst in custody at the female Remand Prison in Arouca stood before Magistrate Indrani Cedeno at the Scarborough magistrates virtual court and pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and a device specifically altered for the use of a dangerous drug.

The court heard that on February 7, the unemployed woman from Milford Road was walking along 2nd Street Gaskin Bay Road, Bon Accord when she began to act suspiciously upon seeing police.

Police said when searched, cocaine and a smoking apparatus was found in her bosom. She was fined $8,000 for possession of the cocaine and $3,000 for the apparatus.

Roberts-Reid was given six months to pay the fines.
