UNC Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal on Sunday demanded to know why Robert Le Hunte resigned as public utilities minister and when National Security Minister Stuart Young will follow suit.

Commenting on Le Hunte's resignation, Moonilal said, "This is another bizarre event of the infamous term of Keith Rowley."

Referring to the visit of Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez to TT in March, Moonilal quipped, "The PNM seem to be upside down. When there is a widespread call for Stuart Young to go, by midday Robert Le Hunte goes."

Moonilal said Le Hunte's resignation could not distract "from the avalanche of calls for the immediate removal of Stuart Young as Minister of National Security." He also believed the road map to recovery team, of which Le Hunte was a vice-chairman, "ran off the road."

Claiming Le Hunte's resignation reflected an "unravelling of the Cabinet" Moonilal said the Prime Minister had no choice now but to dissolve the Parliament and call the election.

"Failure to do this will leave him like a ringmaster in a political circus."

Saying conflicting stories about the sale of fuel from Paria Fuel Trading Company to Aruba have left the Government unmasked, Moonilal declared, "There can be no economic recovery without the removal of Rowley."

In a statement, the UNC supported everything Moonilal said.

The party claimed Le Hunte's resignation showed Rowley had lost the support of the people and "members of his own government are losing confidence in his ability to govern."

The UNC said Rowley must give the people "the chance to elect a leader and team that are competent, have a proven track record, and have a vision and plan to move our country forward."
