FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD Anushka Lana Balkissoon, who left her Fyzabad home at 11.30 pm on Sunday, was found in Point Fortin on Monday.

Her mother, Laura Balkissoon, confirmed that her daughter is safely at home.

“She seems to be ok at this point in time, but we will be taking her to the doctor for a medical check during the course of the day.”

Happy that her daughter is safe, Balkissoon said she is thankful to the police and all those who helped find her younger child.

“I look after my daughters all the time and I accompany them wherever they have to go.”

Balkissoon believes her daughter was influenced by someone who contacted her on her phone.

“Now that they are home from school due to the covid19 stay-at-home time, they are looking for ways to find excitement.”

The form three student of Parvati Girls' Hindu College was discovered missing at 1.30 am on Sunday by her elder sister, who woke up to study.

Police obtained video footage of the missing girl walking from the Siparia Old Road to Guapo Road in Fyzabad.

In an earlier report, Anushka's father, Dale Balkissoon, who is separated from Anushka’s mother, said he had roamed Fyzabad, Siparia, Penal, San Francique, Oropouche, and Avocat searching for his daughter during the early hours of Monday.

Police did not reveal how Anushka was found and returned to her mother.
