Four police officers held for 2018 killing released

THE four police officers who were detained for the shooting death of a Wallerfield man in 2018 have been released.

The four, three Special Reserve Police (SRP) constables and a full-time constable were arrested on Monday for the June 23, 2018, shooting death of Yasin Anderson. Anderson was killed during a police-involved shooting. Another man was injured in the shooting incident but survived and was subsequently charged with shooting at the police.

Police said the four, who are all assigned to the Northern Division, were arrested by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau and Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region II) after consulted with the Director of Public Prosecutions. Three of officers were released Friday night while the fourth was released on Saturday. Investigators said one of the SRPs had been on suspension for a year concerning an unrelated offence of assault.
