A 53-year-old steel bender of Silk Cotton Extension in Bon Accord has been sentenced to three months' hard labour for stealing a bottle of olive oil.Clive Bachoo appeared before magistrate Duane Murray in the Scarborough magistrates court on Wednesday to answer the charge.

Prosecutor Sgt Alicia Piggott told the court that around 11am on May 12, Bachoo went to a supermarket in Scarborough and whilst there the security officer on duty observed Bachoo pushing something in his pants. When the officer searched Bachoo, one large bottle of olive oil, valued $95, was found in his pants.

Asked by the magistrate to explain why he stole the olive oil, Bachoo said, "I took it based on advice from an old man that I can mix it with lemon to pass out 'old blood' since I got into an accident and was robbed."

WSRP Edwards-Chadband laid the charge. In another incident, a 33-year-old Lambeau man was placed on $3,000 bond to keep the peace for one year and ordered to pay compensation of $300 or serve two weeks' simple imprisonment after slapping a woman in the presence of police officers.

On Wednesday, the court heard that SRP Orr and other police officers responded to a disturbance at Browne’s Lane, Lambeau, and whilst interviewing Harmoni Bruce, she was slapped in the face by Nicolai Bruce. He was arrested and charged.
