Two women held in drug and gun bust in Marabella


Three people including a 57-year-old woman who works at the Ministry of National Security have been arrested after an early morning raid uncovered a cache of drugs and guns. The woman, an accountant, together with another woman, 28, and a 30-year-old unemployed man are assisting Southern Division police with the investigations.The younger woman is an accounts clerk who lives at St James Street in Marabella, police said.

The find was made during a police search of a house in Marabella around 5 am Thursday. The officers allegedly found two high-powered guns, an AK 47 with a magazine and an AR 15 with two magazines, as well as a Glock 22 with an extended magazine and two single magazines. Police also found 144 rounds of assorted ammunition including 40 and 45 calibres and 7.62 and 5.56mm.

Sgt Ifill and Cpl Burke together with other police from Marabella CID and Southern Division ask Force are also alleged to have found 1.68 kilogrammes of cocaine and 12 kilogrammes of marijuana.
