The Living Water Community will distribute hampers on Friday to some of the local needy population for a fifth time.

Bags of food and other basics will be distributed at the LWC's base on Frederick Street, Port of Spain, from 6am.

Rhonda Maingot, LWC director and founder, speaking to the media last week, confirmed this fifth operation.

On the four previous occasions, more than 2,000 people benefited. Last Friday about 700 locals received hampers. People started arriving at the LWC building from Thursday night.

The presence of more police officers and some 40 volunteers meant it was more orderly than previous occasions.

"There is more support in general, more police, and the population also understood that we must maintain order to continue advancing in the face of difficulties," said Maingot.

Another 800 hampers are expected to be available today to those who need them.

The hampers are donated by individuals, companies and local organisations to help the population most affected by the covid19 restrictions on work and movement.

The LWC continues to accept donations at its headquarters Monday-Thursday from 8am-4pm.
