Suriname 69 get second covid19 test

The 69 TT nationals who came in from Suriname on May 1 and are quarantined at the UWI Debe Campus got their second covid19 swab test on Wednesday.

If their results come back negative again, they expect to be released from quarantine on Friday or Saturday.

Lawrence Balkaran said hopefully they will get their results on Thursday.

“We are on our last days here. Got our last test today (Wednesday) so we are preparing for Saturday morning or, even better, Friday.

“We are looking forward to it,” he said.

The group was first tested the day after they returned. Their results were negative.

They are under a mandatory 14-day quarantine. While they were satisfied with the facility, they are eager to return home to their families.

Most of the men were oil and gas workers who were contracted in Suriname.
