Police cooking for the needy

RIO CLARO police have given new meaning to the Police Service’s motto which is to protect and serve with PRIDE (professionalism, respect, integrity, dignity and excellence).

The officers are preparing to cook and serve 100 meals to families struggling in the district because of the coronavirus pandemic. Officers at the station have been making financial contributions to help buy the ingredients for the initiative.

“The officers will cook and put the food in lunch boxes. Some people might go to the station to collect but the officers will be delivering to homes,” an officer said. “A lot of people are giving out hampers. From us, we decided to provide meals. Officers are free to contribute whatever they can.”

The distribution takes place on Friday. Insp Samaroo, Sgt Chote, PC Archibald and WPC Toby are part of the initiative. Several people have taken to social media to commend the officers for the initiative. A Facebook user said, “God will bless you guys.” Another said, “Good job!”
