Cox salutes nurses

Minister of Communications Donna Cox has commended nurses for their contribution to the fight against covid19 in TT.

In a statement, Cox said “The nurses of our country have risen to the occasion by putting themselves at risk every day to keep us safe.”

The ministry released the statement in recognition of International Nurses Day on May 12. It said this year’s theme, Nursing the World to Health, “accurately reflects what has been happening over the past few months.”

Cox encouraged healthcare workers to continue working “with due diligence,” and expressed her gratitude to those working in both the private and public sector for their commitment to meeting the needs of their patients.

Cox said despite the high rate of infection around the world, the measures implemented by the government in March have allowed the country to keep the numbers of covid19 cases down to a manageable figure.

She said nurses are “needed to play (their) part so that we all can get through this pandemic.”
