Cedros murder suspect arrested

Police have arrested a 21-year-old Cedros man in connection with the murder of villager Kissoon "Jankie" Motee.

The 57-year-old murder victim was a bottle collector and lived alone in the area.

On Wednesday, a villager found Motee’s body in some bushes about 20 feet from Limefield Road.

Blood was smeared on his clothing. The body had wounds to the head, face and neck.

Police led by Sgts Navin Beharry, Rishi Ramsaran and South Western Division officers detained the suspect around 6 am on Saturday.

He is unemployed and has two addresses, one at Fullarton Village and the other at Coromandel Village both in Cedros.

The man was expected to be handed over to investigators at the Homicide Bureau Region III.
