SUPER Supers sponsor Blue Sky Shipping has partnered with non-profit organisation Serving Women and Youth (SWAY) to assist the most vulnerable members of society during the coronavirus pandemic.

A donation of just $200 provides a family of four with a variety of food supplies, personal care and household items. Blue Sky Shipping will also make a contribution to SWAY with every purchase on Blue Sky Grocery, its online grocery platform which was launched in March.

One of the key Super Series objectives is social responsibility. Teams invited to the prestigious T20 are required to engage in meaningful community initiatives as part of their tournament commitment. Super Series Committee member Devon Ramoo lauded Blue Sky Shipping for leading the charge to help those in need as a result of the pandemic.

“Blue Sky Shipping has been fantastic and extremely considerate for their compassionate initiative which has been helping those in need throughout the country in these trying times. The Super Series committee fully support this endeavour and we are 100 per cent committed to working with Blue Sky Shipping in any capacity to help families in need during this difficult time,” said Ramoo.

Managing director of Blue Sky Shipping Brent Russell commended SWAY on the work being done to help those affected by the coronavirus. He said the objective is to get as much help to those who need it at this point in time.

“The goal for us at Blue Sky Shipping in partnering with SWAY is to create a sustainable system for us to assist the most vulnerable people in our society. It’s wonderful when people donate and contribute anything, but our goal is to make sure that we devise ways to help those who need it most. There are poor people that were hurting before this entire pandemic and they are really suffering now. We think that SWAY is doing an excellent job with this and we look forward to continuing the outreach even after this pandemic is over,” said Russell.

Blue Sky Shipping is also the official logistics and transport partner for SWAY and along with SWAY’s other partners – Prices Supermarket, National Flour Mills, Kiss Baking and TTV Solidarity Network – is committed to helping everyone in TT who needs it most.

“One of the major problems is actually getting the items from those who donate, to those who need. Because of our experience with logistics in TT, first with Blue Sky Shipping and subsequently with Blue Sky Grocery, we have made our resources available to SWAY so we can assist in helping anyone that is in need regardless of where they are located in Trinidad,” Russell explained.

"It is also very difficult for the elderly and other people who have any sort of health issues to leave their homes to get their groceries, pharmaceuticals and other items. This is why we have begun to expand the range of products available from BlueGro to include appliances, pharmaceuticals and even electronics, to best serve the needs of everyone,” Russell revealed.
