Morvant police are urging the public to check in on elderly relatives while stay-at-home measures remain in place to ensure they are healthy and safe.

Police from the Morvant station made the call after the body of 65-year-old Sandra Ashby was found in a house on Lady Young Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Newsday understands Ashby's daughter visited her just after 12 pm but became suspicious when she did not respond to her calls.

She called the police, who broke down the door and found Ashby's body inside.

Foul play is not suspected.

An officer said, "You can't have a loved one living alone and not check in on them for days at a time. Make sure to check on them often to ensure that they are okay and getting the supplies they need – even after the stay-at-home regulations are over."
