OPPOSITION MP Dr Roodal Moonilal says he finds it “most disconcerting” that the Prime Minister “continues to spend late hours of the night churning out anger-filled Facebook posts.” He advised Dr Rowley should take it easy.

Moonilal was referring to a status posted to Rowley’s Facebook page, which said the UNC’s belief is that for it to succeed, the country must fail. Rowley said, “For the Opposition Leader to be out front in scaremongering and giving life to rumours that TT has dangerously broken US sanctions against Venezuela and we have failed to answer allegations of that nature is as low as Mrs Persad-Bissessar has ever gone.

“To undermine the country’s foreign policy is one thing but to invite others to do so is as dastardly and disgusting as it could ever be.”

In a release on Sunday, Moonilal said Rowley continues to give “half-baked” excuses and should try to get some rest. “I totally and categorically reject the Prime Minister’s diatribe about the opposition trying to damage the reputation of this country.

“If the Prime Minister has difficulty sleeping, as a long time parliamentary colleague, I can send a bottle of Aqua Vitae or a good aged single malt whisky to aid his rest so he would not be consumed with rage when one should be resting.”

He said the opposition seeks to “fix” the “already strained” relationship between TT and the US, adding that Rowley’s Facebook post was disturbing.

“US leadership regularly snobs the Prime Minister of TT by refusing to invite him to crucial talks in the US and in the Caribbean.

“Dr Rowley must realize that his half-baked excuses and explanations may be seen as quacking like a duck and walking like a duck but it is not befitting a Prime Minister.”
