People are still not adhering to covid19 stay-at-home restrictions worldwide.

So said Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh at the daily covid19 update while answering questions from the media.

The question of reports of people not adhering to the new rules was raised hours after a 28-year-old mother of three died in an accident, while allegedly returning from an unauthorised beach party in Las Cuevas.

“You are seeing it (ignoring physical distancing rules) all over the world. It is a message we have to keep driving home, that this is the new normal.”

Pointing out that it has been a month since he has last seen his son, who lives in the country, but communicates with him over the phone. Deyalsingh said it would take a paradigm shift to adapt to the virus.

“We adapted to HIV, and we will have to adapt to covid19.

“Even when we get a vaccine, there are still people who are hesitant. We have to adapt to the new normal.”

The accident victim, Crystal Julien of Ninth Street, Barataria was travelling in a van with about six other passengers — some sitting in the van’s tray — when it ran off the road, flipped and crashed into a ditch.
