MINISTER of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Dennis Moses, on behalf of the government, received over 14,200 masks and 100 protective overalls from China’s ambassador Song Yumin.

The protective personal equipment (PPE) was transferred in a handover ceremony at the ministry in St Clair on Friday. Yumin presented the PPE to Moses on behalf of the Henan (Chinese province) and Shanghai governments.

A release from the ministry, issued shortly afterwards, said Yumin expressed his appreciation for the solidarity the government and people of TT have shown in light of the covid19 pandemic reaching the country. It said the ambassador also commended the government on the measures implemented to slow the spread of the virus.

Moses said that in addition to the over 44,700 items previously received, the new donation will go a long way in equipping frontline workers treating covid19 patients. He also attributed the ongoing collaboration in the fight against covid19 to the “longstanding friendly relations” between the two countries.
