Covid19 medics are expected to take a 14-day quarantine after treating with patients, says Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram at the daily health ministry press briefing on Monday.

Parasram said the last three people in the Sangre Grande step-down facility were discharged, and there are only three patients at the Couva hospital and nine at the Home of Football facility in Couva.

Parasram said some health care workers will have to undergo a post-duty quarantine to ensure they do not spread the virus themselves.

He noted, however, that it was still early in the fight against the virus.

“As the numbers go down, let us not forget the fact that it is still early in the pandemic. We don’t know what would happen in the coming weeks or months and we have to remain prepared.”
