HEALTH Minister Terrence Deyalsingh says the 69 TT nationals who returned from Suriname on Friday will be tested for covid19 today.

At a virtual press briefing on Saturday, Deyalsingh said the nationals have "settled in well" at their quarantine centre – the UWI's Debe campus.

"I'm told a swab team will be there today. We just gave them some time to settle in to take their initial tests.

"They will be treated under the same protocols that the 33 persons from Barbados were housed and treated," Deyalsingh said.

He added that the 33 nationals who returned from Barbados will be re-tested on Sunday as they are nearing the end of their 14-day quarantine period.

"Let's keep our fingers crossed that everything goes well and these 33 persons can go back home to their homes and back to their communities."
