THE 11 Cuban nurses who will assist this country in its fight against the covid19 pandemic arrived on Friday.

This was announced by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh at a virtual press briefing on Saturday morning.

He said the nurses will be quarantined for two weeks, just like the TT nationals who recently returned from Barbados and Suriname.

"Once they get the all-clear, then we will have them deployed where we need them.

"These nurses are specialist Intensive Care-Unit (ICU) nurses because in TT, we have a shortage of that skill. So they are not taking the jobs of the TT nurses. What we are doing in the interim, is training our nurses in ICU management."
