Test people stopped in roadblocks

THE EDITOR: With the many media conferences by the Government giving updates and guidelines to the nation in the fight against this covid19 pandemic, Prime Minister Dr Rowley continues to plead with the nation to take precautions, such as staying at home.

However, we continue to see some citizens ignoring the appeals. The danger is that among them may be carriers of the virus. This lack of individual responsibility can put increased pressure on the health system.

On Friday I witnessed the massive roadblocks throughout the country, which the CoP said will be an ongoing exercise.

I suggest that while these exercises continue the police be given devices to take the temperature of everyone in the roadblocks, in addition to their names and contact numbers.

Anyone with a temperature above average should be directed to the closest health facility for further tests.

This will assist the health authorities to get a basic idea of how severe the virus may be at a national and a community level.
