Keeping our SEA children focused now

THE EDITOR: I am a parent of a child who should have written the SEA exam last Thursday. Like all parents I am disappointed it did not take place because of the outbreak of the coronavirus but we must find ways to keep our children motivated and focused.

I commend the efforts of Minister Anthony Garcia and the Education Ministry team in having teachers provide the mathematics and English lessons everyday on television. I make sure my daughter watches them daily and she even talks with her friends about them on the phone.

I am glad the ministry started these lessons on TV soon after school closed so our children did not lose much time idling.

The school principal also gave me information from the ministry for my daughter to watch other lessons online. All the teachers using the technology set up by the ministry must be thanked for their efforts to help parents support their children in these difficult times.

The coronavirus situation brings new challenges for the ministry and I hope it continues to use technology to support our students even after the virus is brought under control and schools return to normal.
