Water needed to fight covid19

THE EDITOR: The Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) is calling on all Caribbean countries to prepare for the coronavirus. Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh has been on radio and television trying to educate the public on preventative measures to be taken in the event the virus reaches our country.

Foremost among them is the proper washing of hands with soap and water. Unfortunately, many communities particularly in Central and South, are crying out for water. They have been doing so for years. The Minister of Public Utilities must tell the nation what contingency plans are in effect to guarantee a regular supply of water, so that citizens can not only wash their hands more regularly to avoid the spread of the coronavirus but also do regular, daily chores who have a consistent supply of water, take for granted.
