TT exports to Guyana $10b, imports $1b

TRADE Minister Paula Gopee-Scoon reported that in the past five years TT's exports to Guyana totalled $10 billion, compared to imports of $1 billion.

She was responding to a question in the Senate on Thursday.

She said TT has a positive trade balance with Guyana and exports outweighed imports over the period 2015-2019. She added that TT exports to Guyana have been trending upward while imports from Guyana were relatively constant, with minor fluctuations.

"TT is a net exporter to Guyana."

Gopee-Scoon pointed out that Guyana is one of this country's top five trading partners in Caricom. She said with Guyana's discovery of its first light crude oil, there were opportunities for trade of energy and non-energy goods.
