Did Pandays wait too long?

THE EDITOR: Some months ago I would have said that Mickela Panday could have been of some significance on the political scene. Did she wait too long? Or rather, did former prime minster Basdeo Panday over play the political scenario? Why did he allow Mickela's political petals to wilt?

This supreme control of all events by her father could be quite off-putting to a discerning public. If any third entity led by the Pandays proves successful, who would be PM? I cannot imagine that an unsuited hodge podge of failed political drop out/rejects from the PNM and the UNC will be capable of keeping us afloat as we face a future dominated by encroaching covid19.

The fate of the Third World is tied to how well the First World navigates flagging economies because of collateral economic damage. Like it or not, for 2020 general elections, only the PNM/UNC will be going to the polls with any hope of electoral victory. Let us be realistic.

There will be little to crow over. Third party politics in TT is the first notable casualty of this coronavirus. Once bitten, twice shy. Coalition politics in TT will not work. Given the difficult economic climate on the horizon, only the strong among us will survive the present day political challenges.
