They must unite the community

THE EDITOR: Local government elections are on Monday and the candidates, both new and old, seem to chant the same mantra: “We are here to help, give us your vote, the opposing party is unworthy, etc.”

However, I am yet to meet a candidate that realises the importance of galvanising and uniting the community they would like to represent.

As I told a good friend and candidate, we must know the people we seek to represent, hear their problems and listen to their proposed solutions.

Then unite to find solutions and embrace all the unemployed youths of the area, form a databank of people and work with them and we will be a true representative of the people.
