What does Govt have to hide?

THE EDITOR: “Oh! What a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive” (Scott, 1808).

This aptly sums up the incredible effort by the Government to obfuscate the truth with respect to Darryl Smith’s sexual harassment issue.

The public is being bombarded by tons of “legal speak” emanating from a plethora of lawyers, whose sole aim seems to be to keep the report out of the public domain.

The media must be commended for the investigative work they have done to keep this issue in the public consciousness. The end result, unfortunately, is that the media are being threatened with pre-action protocol letters for doing their job.

What is the Rowley-led PNM Government trying so desperately to hide? What hold does Smith have over the Cabinet?
