THE EDITOR: I am a teacher. Retired 20 years ago. I have been a productive teacher.
Listed among my students are island scholars, specialist doctors, dentists, lawyers, teachers and other professionals in every field of human endeavour.
I still contribute to my community teaching mathematics and additional mathematics to students who need my assistance.
During all these years, my pension has remained at the level of a senior citizen, many of whom have never worked.
This year’s budget has given increases to greenhorns in CEPEP and URP whose productivity is measured by the amount of grass they cut, or by how many bags of cement they mix.
My sweetness in the budget is to receive in my twilight years a LED bulb, to light my grave in the next few years.
