Manhunt after Tobago teen beaten unconscious

A MANHUNT was launched in Tobago yesterday after an 18-year-old woman was beaten into unconsciousness at her home on Tuesday leaving her in a serious condition. Alia Amoroso, a trainee at the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) has been transferred to the Port of Spain General Hospital for further treatment.

According to police reports, Amoroso’s family left her asleep at her home along Barton Drive in Bon Accord shortly after 6 am on Tuesday. However, when relatives returned to the house at about 9 am, they discovered the front door open and ajar. Upon entering, they saw Amoroso lying unconscious on her bed, with blood dripping from her eyes, nose and mouth.

The police and emergency health services were alerted and the teen was rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital where she was treated. Police said that the teenager suffered head injuries, as well as injuries to her eardrums and left eye, along with a fractured jaw. So severe were the injuries that doctors ordered Amoroso to be transferred to the Port of Spain for further treatment.
