With excitement in his voice, an elated Robert Solomon, calling from his Miami hotel, screamed with delight: “I am calling you for you to hear the excitement in my voice. I cannot ever begin to explain the overwhelming joy that I am feeling right now. I Couldn't be any more pleased.”

Solomon was at the time in the process of checking out his Miami hotel yesterday, to head to the airport to catch a flight to Thailand but said he had to take a moment to give the good news.

He said 12 more decorators, some non-professional, have come on board to beautify more police stations for Christmas.

It was only on Wednesday when Solomon, an event planner and decorator, challenged other decorators to pick a police station in the area where they live and decorate it for Christmas.

Solomon said yesterday: “I thought it would just be five stations we would be doing, but I never believed the amount we have now. Kudos for those stepping forward. The general consensus has been phenomenal.”

At the end of Wednesday, seven decorators had answered the call.

Solomon said Kirk Jean-Baptiste from the ISOS (I Support Our Services) told him, "You cooking with gas. You have no idea how good it will make those officers feel."

Solomon added: “And it is the people in communities who are just jumping on board. I am so elated. My phone is just 'pinging'.”

He said the manager of the Excellent Stores warehouse in Chaguanas has offered special rates for decorators, as part of the initiative, since the latter will be beautifying selected stations for free.

A release from the police corporate communications unit saidthe police were partnering with the decorators in keeping with their strategic thrust toward building and strengthening partnerships within communities.

ISOS patron Nicole Dyer-Griffith, wife of the Police Commissioner, said on Wednesday she thought the Solomon initiative a wonderful idea, and the ISOS will co-ordinate the roll-out in November. Since its inception last December, the ISOS has formed partnerships with the corporate community to provide services to law enforcement personnel across divisions.

Solomon returns home on October 5.
