STUART Young on Tuesday said the removal of his portfolio as communications minister did not mean there would be "miracles" in the National Security Ministry, which he leads.

"I don’t think people are right to think that as of now there are going to be miracles happening, because National Security was my primary focus and emphasis, but it's good to have someone else in charge of communications and I am sure that Ms (Donna) Cox, who has a lot of experience, will do a tremendous job and I am happy to just be able to get down to the focus of national security as well as my duties at the Office of the Prime Minister,” he told reporters.

He spoke to the media after addressing the opening ceremony of the Adolescent Drug Intervention Training Programme at Mt Irvine Bay Hotel, Tobago.

Young said although he had a reduced workload, at no point did his previous extra duties "take away from the emphasis and the focus that I was placing on national security."

He said he trusted the Prime Minister's decision to relieve him of the communications portfolio.

“At the end of the day, the Prime Minister is the wise one. The Prime Minister knows what he is doing, I never doubt that.”

On Sunday, Young’s appointment as Minister of Communications was revoked and Cox was sworn in on Monday by President Paula-Mae Weekes.
